Orkney Chairs

The Orkney Chair is a traditional design that has evolved over centuries in the islands.  Its high, sometimes hooded, back woven from straw is thought to have evolved to keep away the draughts on a wild Orkney winters nights and sturdy wooden construction have developed into a classic piece of design.  Master craftsman Robert Towers has been handcrafting examples of the Orkney Chair for around 30 years and is regarded by many as the finest maker working today.  A chair from his workshop is worth waiting for and is an instant family heirloom and we are proud to be selling his work on our site…
